Safety Disclaimer
Last updated · June 8, 2026
Read this before you run. Stride encourages outdoor physical activity in real-world environments. Your safety is your responsibility.
1. Consult a professional
Running is strenuous exercise. Consult a physician before starting any exercise program, especially if you have a medical condition, are pregnant, or have been inactive. Stop and seek help if you feel pain, dizziness, or distress. Stride is not a medical device and does not provide medical advice.
2. Stay aware — eyes up
- Do not stare at your phone while moving. Keep your head up and stay alert to traffic, people, animals, and hazards.
- Obey all traffic signals and laws. Cross at crossings. Assume drivers cannot see you.
- Run in safe, legal, well-lit areas. Never trespass or enter private or restricted property to claim territory.
- Be mindful of weather, terrain, and your surroundings. Tell someone your route; use the in-app safety features.
3. GPS accuracy
GPS and mapping are approximate and can be affected by buildings, weather, and your device. Territory, distance, and pace are estimates and should not be relied on for navigation, emergencies, or any safety-critical purpose.
4. Assumption of risk
You voluntarily participate in running and use Stride with full knowledge of the inherent risks, including injury, accident, or death. You assume all such risks. To the maximum extent permitted by law, you release Stride and its team from any liability for injury, loss, or damage arising from your physical activity or use of the Service.
5. The game is not worth your safety
No territory, streak, league, or rank is worth your wellbeing or anyone else’s. Play fair, run responsibly, and respect your community and the rules of the road. This Disclaimer forms part of our Terms of Service.
